Airplane of the Month • April 2004 |
Year: 1966 Model: 150F Serial#: 15062459 Michael and Karin Wotherspoon's 1966 C150 "Birdie" This pretty 150 won "Outstanding Contemporary in Type" at Oshkosh 2002. The Wotherspoons enjoy flying Birdie over scenic waterways near their home base in Ontario, Canada. Birdie's airframe is currently just shy of 10,000 hours, she was a local trainer and had been privately owned for about 5 years before the Wotherspoons adopted her. In the winter of 2002 she got a zero timed rebuild from ATC engineering in Orillia - including flow matching and some port work. Michael also added chrome valve covers and chrome exhaust stacks (see photo below) he says they don't help performance, but sure look nice!
Since purchase all instruments have either been rebuilt, recertified, or replaced with new. The interior is nicely restored with new Plane Plastics parts and newly reupholstered seats. The yokes wear Warren Gregoire leather covers. New glass all around! Paint was brand new in 1999 just before her first trip to Oshkosh. The Wotherspoon's invite you to come and visit them at CYQA! |
